Bromine number: (or bromine number) is an indicator to measure the content of Unsaturated hydrocarbon in organic matter. The grams of elemental bromine consumed in a 100g sample are called bromine valence, while the milligrams of bromine consumed in a 100g sample are called bromine index. The higher the bromine number or bromine index, the higher the Unsaturated hydrocarbon content in the sample, that is, the higher the Degree of unsaturation degree. In oil production, this value serves as an important indicator to measure the stability of oil products. In some chemical production processes (such as long chain alkylation reactions), it can also be used to roughly estimate the conversion rate of products.

The SH0630 automatic bromine index analyzer adopts the principle of microcoulometric titration (coulometric method). The sample is injected into the titration cell, and the Unsaturated hydrocarbon of the sample and the bromine in the electrolyte undergo Addition reaction. The bromine value and bromine index of the sample can be calculated according to the Faraday's laws of electrolysis by calculating the electricity consumption of electrogenerated bromine. The Electrolytic cell adopts a special ceramic sand core instead of the previous ion exchange membrane, which is more convenient for maintenance, improves the measurement sensitivity, and makes the results more stable, accurate, and repeatable.

Scope of application: The instrument is applicable to the determination of bromine number and bromine index of Petrochemical such as gasoline, kerosene, diesel oil, lubricating oil, light and heavy aromatics.
